Access and work through core emotions — so they inform your life rather than run it.

What Emotion-Focused Therapy is

Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) is built on the understanding that emotions are fundamentally adaptive — they carry information and motivate action. Problems arise when emotions are avoided, suppressed, or overwhelming to the point of dysfunction.

EFT helps people access, understand, and work through emotions that have been stuck, distorted, or cut off — so they can function as guides rather than obstacles.

What EFT is used for

  • Emotional avoidance, numbness, or shutdown
  • Emotional overwhelm and reactivity
  • Depression rooted in unprocessed emotional pain
  • Grief and loss
  • Relationship conflict and disconnection
  • Shame, guilt, and self-criticism
  • Trauma with strong emotional components

What to expect

EFT sessions are experiential — your psychologist will help you access emotions in the room, not just describe them. This can feel unfamiliar at first, but it often creates movement where purely analytical approaches have stalled. Sessions are always paced to what feels workable for you.
