Play Therapy in Sherwood Park & the Edmonton Area
A child's natural language — used therapeutically to support emotional health and development.
What play therapy is
Children often can't articulate their inner experience the way adults do. Play therapy works with this — using play as the medium through which children express emotions, process experiences, and work through difficulties. It's not "just playing." It's a structured, therapeutic approach guided by a trained clinician.
At Vault, play therapy is offered within a broader framework of support for children and families.
What play therapy is used for
- Anxiety and fears in children
- Behavioural challenges and emotional dysregulation
- Trauma and difficult experiences
- Grief and loss
- Social difficulties and peer challenges
- Family transitions (divorce, new siblings, relocation)
- Children who struggle to engage in traditional talk therapy
What to expect
Sessions take place in a safe, child-friendly space. Your psychologist will work with your child at their pace, using play as the entry point. Parent involvement and communication is an important part of the process — you'll stay informed and included in a way that supports the work happening in session.
Looking for support for your child?
Play therapy meets children where they are. If your child is struggling to express or manage what they're going through, we can help them find language for it.
