Get to know Tannis
Athletics have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I had my first baseball glove before I could walk and I put on my first pair of figure skates at the age of three. Over the years, I competed in figure skating and softball, played volleyball and basketball throughout junior high and high school, and continued with semi-competitive and recreational volleyball and slow-pitch as an adult.
While I loved being involved in competitive sports, I also experienced the pressure that can come from wanting to perform well. I was afraid of making mistakes, and when I did, I sometimes struggled to let it go. One mistake could quickly turn into another, affecting both my confidence and my performance. As an adult, I have had the opportunity to coach developmental volleyball and basketball, and I continue to see how challenging these experiences can be for young athletes. This has shaped my desire to help athletes develop the confidence, resilience, and skills they need to navigate both the successes and challenges that come with sport. Because at the end of the day, sports should still be fun!
My desire to help others extends beyond the playing surface. I understand that life can be challenging and that there are times when we all need support. Whether you are an athlete working through performance pressure, someone navigating anxiety, depression, or self-doubt, or simply trying to find your way through a difficult life transition, I believe you deserve a space where you feel heard, understood, and supported. Using a person-centred approach, I work collaboratively with each client to understand their unique experiences, needs, and goals because I believe therapy should be shaped around you and the life you want to build. My goal is to help you develop the insight, skills, and confidence to move forward in a way that feels meaningful to you.
