Get to know Keara
Hello, my name is Keara (pronounced k-ear-uh). My approach to therapy is rooted in a non-judgmental, client-centred philosophy. I believe in building authentic and genuine therapeutic relationships to foster an environment grounded in safety, trust, and comfort, allowing you the space to work toward your desired outcomes in therapy.
My understanding of performance and mental wellbeing began through athletics. I played basketball from the age of 11 until an ACL injury in Grade 12 shifted my path. Although I was no longer able to compete, I continued as team captain and later coached girls’ basketball. These experiences offered me a new perspective on how confidence, motivation, identity, and mental health influence performance. During this time, I developed a deeper appreciation for the psychological aspects of growth, resilience, and self-belief.
After high school, I completed my Bachelor of Science in Nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse in emergency departments. This environment introduced another dimension of performance, one shaped by high pressure, critical decision-making, and emotional intensity. Through these experiences, I encountered self-doubt, burnout, and imposter syndrome firsthand, which deepened my empathy for others navigating similar challenges. Nursing taught me resilience, the value of compassion, and the importance of finding moments of humour even in difficult circumstances. Over time, I felt drawn toward work that allowed for deeper connection and exploration of the human experience, which led me to pursue my Master of Counselling Psychology.
As a counsellor-in-training, my goal is to work collaboratively with you to explore your strengths, resilience, and supports. I strive to create a space where you feel comfortable, understood, and empowered to grow into your best self.
Outside of work and school, I enjoy snowboarding and watching hockey in the winter. In the summer, you’ll likely find me soaking up the sun on walks or at the golf range.
